The Shanghai Health Promotion Association was established in 1987, formerly known as the Shanghai Association for the Elimination of Four Pests. It is one of the earliest associations established in the field of health promotion in China. The registration management authority is the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, and the business supervisory unit is the Shanghai Health Commission. The association is a "5A level social organization" that plays a key role in the construction of a healthy Shanghai. The business scope includes popular science promotion, information exchange, professional training, etc. for health promotion, pest control, and disinfection services. The Association has provided technical support for the revision of laws and regulations such as the Regulations of Shanghai on Patriotic Health and Health Promotion, and has also cooperated with the municipal government to distribute free "health books+tools" to citizens' families for 15 consecutive years. It has also undertaken the task of disinfection and sterilization key places during the Expo, and has also established an emergency disinfection and sterilization team during the COVID-19, which has played an important role in blocking the spread of viruses.
